Despite Diablo 4 not being fully released as of yet, Blizzard has confirmed that they already have two expansions in active development.

Diablo 4 released for early access players on June 2 and will release worldwide on June 6. Despite this, Blizzard has already revealed that they have two expansions for the action RPG in development. Here’s everything we know so far.

Diablo 4 Already Has Two Expansions In Active Development

This news comes courtesy of Diablo 4 general manager Rod Fergusson who was recently interviewed for Kinda Funny Games. In this interview, Fergusson revealed that not only is the team working on patches and seasons for the new game but also two new expansions.

“We have to build things in parallel,” Fergusson revealed. “Right now as I sit here we’re about to launch the main game, we’re finishing up season one, we’re working on season two, we’re working on expansion one, we’re kicking off expansion two – all that’s happening right now.”

As you can see, the Blizzard team has a lot in the works right now. However, Fergusson assures us that they have to build things “sustainably.” That is good news as we don’t wish the team to be overworked on such a big undertaking.

The future of the game

Not mentioned in Fergusson’s big list is the frequent patches that are being released for the newest Diablo title. Since its early access launch on June 2, it has already received a rebalance patch and a new hotfix. With the live-service game constantly evolving, these patches will only be the start.

What these two expansions will be remains a mystery for now. However, with Diablo 4 receiving rave reviews at the time of writing, we can be sure they will be equally as epic whenever they are ready.
